One fine evening in January I found myself standing in the same spot where I took one of my most popular photographs. The recent rephotographing of photographs by Tom Arndt and Stephen Shore were still fresh in my head. For a moment I pondered if rephotographing oneself a mere two years later was tacky or not. I concluded that is was not only tacky, but also a little bit narcissistic. Thus, I went ahead with making the rephotographed image.

I enjoy that the two images actually contain none of the same objects in them, yet at the same time, the basic geometry of the compositions are nearly identical. No one would ever be able to look at the two and know that they are of the same location without me telling them.
Now that I think about it, the two images I presented in this recent blog post was really rephotographing myself as well.
